DTP QA – Leeds
thebigword translates millions of words a year for some of the world's biggest international corporations and very often when we are asked to translate manuals, brochures or other documentation for publication, this work is then typeset by our in-house DTP team.
We require DTP QA proofreaders to work for thebigword on a casual basis from our premises in Leeds, checking the typeset files against the source and looking for any discrepancies.
Responsibilities include checking:
- that fonts and styles used in the source text are the same in the target
- that correct graphics have been used in the target
- that text has not run onto the next page in the target text
- that text in tables is aligned properly and that the columns are wide enough for the text in the cells
- that all text within the body of the documents has been translated
- that numbers and names have been correctly reproduced in the target
- that there are no corrupted characters throughout the text
