Is LanguageDirector™ Enterprise a GMS?
LanguageDirector™Enterprise can be compared to GMS (Global Management System) solutions that are available in the market. However, unlike most GMS solutions which are just software based, LanguageDirector™Enterprise combines the right people, the best processes and leading language technology into one single platform. thebigwordGroup ensure that you only pay for what you need providing you with a solution that can evolve and develop as your own requirements change.
Passing files in and out of our network sounds like a potential security issue. What safeguards are in place to protect my data?
Using LanguageDirector™ does not open your network to abuse. Files sent through any version of LanguageDirector™are transferred using the same level of encryption as employed by high street banks (128 bit SSL encryption) to protect their customers. It is equivalent to a user selecting a file for upload within a browser - the sort of operation employed when sending attachments with Hotmail or Yahoo email accounts - except with the added security of 128 bit encryption. Furthermore, when returning files, you are alerted via email when a job is complete and can then log on and download the file securely.
Do we need to reconfigure our firewall to send and recieve files?
LanguageDirector™ uses the standard secure port (443), so the vast majority of our customers do not need to reconfigure their network in any way. If your users are able to browse normal secure sites (such as when logging onto Amazon or online banking services) then they will be able to access LanguageDirector™.
What about the risk of viruses?
Using LanguageDirector™ does not open your network to any external attack since your firewall will still be secure. All files handled by thebigwordGroup are checked for viruses using McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Edition which is constantly updated with the latest virus definitions to ensure your files are protected.
What types of files can be sent using LanguageDirector™?
Any type of file can be sent using LanguageDirector™. The software does not distinguish between different file types. Anything from a single Microsoft Word file to a Zip file containing many hundreds of complex file types can be sent.
Are there any file formats which thebigwordGroup cannot translate?
No. Provided that the file format is in common usage or is not a proprietary binary format we can translate the file. We use our custom SmartProtect™ software to preserve the structure of your files. When translating graphics or Flash animations etc, we may need access to the source files in order to extract the text. With graphics, however, our skilled graphic designers can often remove text and create translated versions - if the background is not too complex.
