We require a Business Development Manager, based in our London office. The successful applicant will build up a database of client contacts through telephone-based selling and going out into the field to present to and meet with clients.
Applicants must have a car and a clean driving license, as the role will involve frequent travel throughout the UK.

Business Development Managers – Washington, West Coast US, Benelux, London & Düsseldorf
We require highly motivated sales professionals to join our teams in the US and Europe. The role involves a combination of telephone and field sales work and will require frequent travel throughout the US and Europe, depending on sales territory to be covered.
The BDMs for our US business thebigword inc. will be either based from our New York office or will represent thebigword on the West Coast. There are no specific language requirements for this role, but we will be looking for industry experience.
Our BDM for the Benelux will ideally be based from our Düsseldorf office and will be a fluent Dutch speaker, with German as a second language.
Candidates for all positions should have a proven track record in a sales environment, preferably in the translation industry sector.
Responsibilities include:
- Maximise the sales revenue from new and existing clients and to develop strong and profitable business relationships
- Increase, develop and diversify the client base in accordance with the company’s technical development programme and business plan
- Liaise with all the appropriate departments in relation to major accounts and direct them as appropriate.

IT Support Engineer - Leeds
Opportunity to join the fast paced and challenging IT department of an exciting and expanding Leeds based company as an IT Support Engineer.
Reporting to the IT Manager as part of a small but highly motivated and dedicated IT support team you will be responsible for supporting a technically savvy user base of 200 staff in Leeds, London, Dusseldorf, Beijing and New York.
This role will involve all aspects of IT support; from user account management to PC builds and software installs.

The Candidate
The successful candidate should have excellent all-round technical skills, be able to learn quickly and have at least 2 years experience in a similar role. Knowledge of Windows and Office software, TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS is mandatory and Cisco and/or Linux skills would be highly advantageous.
As well as the technical skills required for this role the successful candidate will have good communication skills and a customer focused attitude towards desktop support. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks is a must.
To provide the best level of support you may be required to work on a rotating shift basis with core hours of 7:30am to 4pm and 10am to 6:30pm.

DTP Operator – New York
We have an exciting new opportunity for a DTP Operator to join our fast-growing New York office.
The role of the DTP Operator will be to provide support to the internal project management team at quotation/project set-up stage and also with ongoing project work.
You will need to have 1 – 2 years experience in the localization industry and have worked on both Traditional and CAT tool (tidy-up) typesetting projects.
You will have experience with the following file types and be familiar with the characteristics of the software: Indesign, Quark, Framemaker, Pagemaker. Previous experience of working on localization of mutimedia projects would also be an advantage.

File Localisation Engineer – New York
We have an exciting new opportunity for a File Engineer to join our fast-growing New York office.
Our Engineering Team act as a file-processing and troubleshooting resource for the operational team at thebigword; providing support with translation jobs which require specialist technical knowledge or specialist software in order to ensure the quality of our clients' files.
They are involved in the development and implementation of workflows, allowing us to protect non-translatable file contents from translation via the use of in-house regular expression-based tools, and market leading Computer Aided Translation (CAT) software. They are also involved in QA processes and ad-hoc troubleshooting where required.
The ideal candidate would be someone with an interest in IT, with a related qualification, who has a desire to work in a challenging role backed up by an experienced and friendly team.
