Bernadette Byrne

Bernie joined thebigword in 1994 and since then she has worked in a wide variety of roles, including language coordinator, manager of the projects department, trainer and special projects manager. She has held her current position as client relations director since August 2004.

Bernie's passion for languages has taken her around the world. She gained Diplomas in Literature and Commerce in Paris, and studied in Quebec for a Diploma in translation. In Mexico she combined her love of Art and language by working as a guide in a cultural centre. She also graduated from Ealing College, London with a BA(Hons) in Applied Language Studies.

In her role as client relations director Bernie is required to ensure that thebigword provides the highest possible quality of translation and service to every client. Should any disputes arise she uses her negotiation techniques to ensure that the matter is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties concerned.

Bernadette enjoys putting her language skills to use when communicating with thebigword's extensive overseas client base. She spends a great deal of time travelling throughout Europe and the USA.

In her spare time she enjoys singing in a choir, mountain biking and watching her son play rugby.
